Description
PE Mysis 3 x 16oz are high quality frozen fish food.
The PE mysis story
For over 10 years, Piscine Energetics have been removing Mysis diluviana from Okanagan Lake in Canada. This mysis is an invasive species, so feeding PE Mysis helps to restore the lake’s natural balance.
Piscine Energetics is the only fishery with the exclusive rights to fish for this mysis at night.
Mysis are best harvested at night because this is when they are feeding. Mysis eat nutrient rich phytoplankton and zooplankton. This means that when they are flash frozen they remain naturally gut-loaded.
Mysis were introduced into Okanagan Lake in 1966. The idea was to provide forage for decreasing salmon populations. But adversely, the mysis began competing with juvenile salmon for the same food source (zooplankton and phytoplankton).
By harvesting this mysis, Piscine Energetics is allowing native salmon populations to return to healthy levels. Salmon are a keystone species for British Columbia’s natural ecosystem. They have a strong cultural significance within First Nation cultures and so are a part of British Columbia’s heritage.
Sustainable aquarium food
Piscine Energetics provides environmentally sustainable, naturally sourced, and nutritionally complete aquarium food. Piscine Energetics have revolutionised the ornamental aquaculture and aquarium industry through innovation in aquatic nutrition.
High nutritional value
PE Mysis offers exceedingly high levels of rich proteins, omega 3 & 6 fatty acids and powerful antioxidants. The freshly caught mysis is clean and intact with no artificial enrichment.
This food is used to improve fish energy and colouration.
Directions for use:
PE Mysis can be fed to the fish in frozen chunks or poured into your aquarium after thawing (always remember to place the rest of your frozen mysis straight back into the freezer). Feed your fish as much as they can eat in two to three minutes.
Top tip
Too much food can increase waste levels in your aquarium. As standard, we recommend testing your aquarium water regularly. This way you can make sure that the aquariums water quality is as good as possible for your aquatic animals.
