Description
Pro-Reef Salt by Tropic Marin leads the way in modern synthetic man-made salt. Create the ideal environment for the care of fish, corals and other invertebrates in reef aquariums by using this salt with regular small water changes.
Pure, pharmaceutical grade sea salt for reef aquaria.
Tropic Marin Pro-Reef Salt optimises calcium and magnesium concentrations as well as alkalinity and pH. Designed to meet the special requirements of modern reef aquaria.
Pro-Reef contains major and minor elements in the exact proportions found in tropical sea water. It is free from nitrates, phosphates and other unwanted chemicals.
Compliance with the most stringent quality control measures for the production of pharmaceuticals ensures nature-identical saltwater.
Pro-Reef salt is easy to mix
Completely soluble due to the use of the mixed-crystal method. This salt dissolves in water easily! Keep the salt in its original packaging or in a tub that will not let moisture in. When kept dry, the easiest way to measure salt out is by weighing it with good quality digital kitchen scales. Pre-heat your RODI water to at least 20°C then add approximately 35 – 40g of salt per litre of water. Once the mix goes from cloudy to clear, test the temperature and salinity of your water with a Hanna Salinity meter. Most people aim for a salinity of around 33 – 35 PPT (1.024 – 1.025) at a temperature of 25°C.
What is the best salinity for my tank?
The ideal salinity for your aquarium will depend on what type of saltwater set up you have. The most important thing for any marine aquarium is to keep water quality as stable as possible. Once you have chosen your ideal salinity, try to stick closely to that.
Below is a conversion chart showing PPT and salinity, additionally this shows how the temperature effects the salinity level.
Celsius | 1.024 | 1.025 |
---|---|---|
24.4 | 33.7 | 35 |
25.0 | 33.9 | 35.2 |
25.6 | 34.1 | 35.4 |
26.1 | 34.3 | 35.6 |
