Description
Vivid Creative Aquatics’ deluxe defroster cups are ideal for defrosting, draining and rinsing your frozen foods. They come as standard as a two pack but you will soon find that very useful and may even decide to have more!
Should I clean frozen foods?
We strongly recommend rinsing frozen foods if you want to keep control of waste levels like nitrates and especially phosphates. It is quite common for people to have algae problems in aquariums due to phosphate levels. If you wish to check your phosphate levels, we also sell phosphate testing kits. However, if you already know that this is a problem and didn’t know to rinse frozen foods then perhaps these cups will help you a lot!
Using defroster cups to prepare frozen fish food
It is a very good idea to use a defroster cup to prepare frozen foods.
These cups are very easy to use. Simply place a piece of frozen food in the cup, let it defrost, get rid of any excess water from the food. Then rinse the food by adding a little bit of RO water to the cup. Use the mesh to strain the food away from the water, then pour the water away and feed your fish.
We quite often take a cube of frozen food out of the freezer the night before we want to use it and leave the defroster cup in the fridge until we wish to feed. A quick rinse through and then its good to go!

For example, the day of the week, the fish tank the food is meant for or the type of food in the container.
