Fine Catch Nets

Description

Fine Catch Nets are a range of aquarium nets by JBL. They are made from highly robust black nylon netting and have a long sturdy handle.

Why are Fine Catch Nets useful?

In the fishkeeping hobby a fine catch net is probably one of the first accessories that you will buy.

Nets are ideal for catching fish or for removing particles of dirt and broken off plant matter from the aquarium.

Due to the fine netting, these nets are suitable for draining and rinsing frozen foods and for straining live foods too.

Frozen food, when not strained, can lead to a build up of nitrate and phosphate in your aquarium. This is because there is some water content to it that the fish cannot eat. If you strain frozen food while it defrosts you allow the water to escape and only add the more nutritious food to your aquarium. It is simple to do:

1. Place a tub under the net and allow the net to sit over it.
2. Add the required amount of frozen food.
3. Wait for it to defrost.
4. Give it a quick rinse under tap water or in RODI water if you wish.
5. Then feed your fish.

Live food is a much loved treat for your fish and very nutritious. Because it is live, there can be a little waste in the water that the live food is kept in. For this reason, we recommend straining live food to remove the water before adding it into your aquarium. Using a fine catch net is an ideal way to do this. The only two exceptions are copepods and phytoplankton. These do not need to be strained before use.

Two nets are better than one!

Should you need to catch fish from your aquarium, it is easier with two nets. Use one to guide the fish in the desired direction and the other to catch the fish. The larger the net, the easier it is to catch fish. Remember not to go too small when choosing your aquarium net.

• 8cm x 6cm (total length, including handle – 31.5cm)
• 10cm x 7.5cm (total length, including handle – just under 33cm)
• 12cm x 10cm (total length, including handle – 35cm)
• 15cm x 12cm (total length, including handle – 42cm)
• 20cm x 14.5cm (total length, including handle – just under 45cm)
• 25cm x 18cm (total length, including handle – 53cm)
