Description

Echinodorus harbii Rosa is a tropical aquarium plant. It has long stems and with large rounded green/brown leaves. With good lighting the leaves will colour up to reflect its name ‘Rosa’. This plant is easy to keep. It can grow to around 40cm tall and will thrive in medium to high light levels.

The ideal temperature range for his plant is between 22 – 28 degrees Celsius.

Being a fairly tall plant, it is best placed in the mid to background of an aquarium.

All of our potted plants arrive with rockwool around the roots, please take the plants out of the pot and gently remove the rockwool. Plant the roots into a suitable substrate to guarantee proper growth and to avoid the roots rotting.

This plant comes in a 5cm pot but you get a lot of plant for the size of the pot! It is suitable for medium to large aquaria and paludaria due to its size.

Echinodorus have fairly tough leaves so you’ll find that if you have fish that nip at plants they might leave this plant alone (but not always)!

Adding plants to your fish tank can help to keep the tank cleaner. Aquarium plants, in part, utilise fish waste to grow. So they can help lower nitrate and phosphate levels. If your nitrates and phosphates are very high, we would also recommend regular maintenance to help reduce these levels.

To keep your plants flourishing you need to make sure that they get enough light, CO2 and nutrition.

Echinodorus harbii Rosa like medium light levels. However, if you give it slightly more intense lighting combined with CO2 and complete nutrition, you will see the red tones coming through better. For most tanks, 6 – 8 hours of light is about right. If you leave the lights on for too long you can end up with algae problems.

This plant is not too fussy bout CO2. If you have a CO2 system it will benefit your tropical plants and it will help this plant to colour up better but it is not needed for this species.

We recommend feeding all aquarium plants with a high quality plant food like Ferropol or Plant Food+.

Please note that the photo is a typical example of this plant. Being a living plant, they do vary slightly.
